Erich Sonnier - Director of Bands
Erich Sonnier was named Director of Bands at Foster High School in June of 2014. He began his teaching career in 1997.
Mr. Sonnier grew up in South Louisiana where he began playing trumpet in 5th grade. He was a Louisiana All-State Band Member and received his Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1997. After moving to Texas in 2001, he attended the University of Houston Clear Lake and received a Master's Degree in Educational Administration.
His teaching career began in 1997 where he was the Director of Bands at Eunice High School in South Louisiana. He was also the Director of Bands at Delcambre High School and Abbeville High School. His responsibilities were to oversee and run all aspects of the band program, as he was the only director.
In 2001, he and his family moved to Texas where he was the Assistant Director at Galena Park High School for two years. He than moved to Alief ISD, where he spent 11 years of his career, as the Band Director of Owens Intermediate School, Assistant Director at Hastings for three years, and Director of Bands Hastings for four years.
In 2014, Mr. Sonnier was named the Director of Bands at Foster High School. He has been married to his Amazing wife Angela for 23 years and is the proud father of two beautiful daughters, Madison, who plays the French Horn and Morgan, who plays the clarinet.
